• Broken or loose brackets and bands – call to schedule a repair; bring any broken piece if it came off completely. 
• Wire out of place – call for a quick visit to slide it back. 
• Lost tie wires, elastic ties, or separators – sometimes these can wait until your next appointment; call us to confirm.

What problems can I resolve at home?

You can manage several minor issues at home: 
• Sores or ulcers – cover abrasive areas of your braces with wax; rinse with salt water to help healing. 
• General discomfort after braces or adjustments – eat soft foods and take an over-the-counter pain reliever as needed. 
• Wire poking – gently bend the wire back with a pencil eraser or apply wax over the area. When in doubt, give us a call.
